Adults
Brain and spine care for adults. Alongside his paediatric practice, Dr Labuschagne treats adults who need brain surgery and, with a multidisciplinary team, spinal surgery. Adult consultations and operations are at Netcare Unitas Hospital, Centurion; paediatric care is also offered at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, Parktown.
Your care
At your consultation you will have time to discuss your symptoms and scans, the options (including treatment without surgery) and what recovery is likely to involve. Whether surgery is advised, and which approach, is discussed with you and, where needed, a multidisciplinary team.
Adult cranial work includes surgery for brain tumours, with awake craniotomy and intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring where appropriate, and the treatment of hydrocephalus. Spinal surgery is offered through a multidisciplinary team that includes the orthopaedic spinal surgeons we work with. You may be referred by your GP or specialist.
